Name: Briar Patches
Age: newborn
Height: 6'4
Build: slender and even frail
Power:
1. Fertile Ground: if Briar is damaged enough to be destroyed, his body will crumble away. The ground beneath him will sprout thick patches of thorny bushes, engulfing him completely. These brambles grow back extremely fast and protect him as he reforms among the roots of the plants. After a day, he will pull himself up from the earth and re-emerge from the briar patch. The plants will die quickly once he leaves.
2. Petrified: in death, the thorns on Briar have become even stronger and harder than ever, able to punch through steel with significant enough force behind them. The vines are more vulnerable however, though the withered and leathery appendages are still tougher than seems natural.
3. Overgrown: Briar is able to place a seed within a something dead, though his current body will die. The seed quickly takes root, spreading throughout the body and taking it over. Briar will be able to control it for a few minutes once fully infected, though his body will keep growing and eventually rupture the disguise, revealing the skeleton once more encased in thorny growth.
4. Impale: Briar can cause his thorns to fire off, releasing them from his body and flinging them at the enemy with tremendous force. Unfortunately the gas build up that causes this effect shoots off ALL his thorns, leaving him vulnerable after. They regrow quickly, but it takes him almost a minute to build up gas pressure to do so again.
5. Root: Briar is able to cause roots to sprout from his body, digging into the ground and even other living things. He will absorb nutrients and life from them, allowing the plant part of his body to grow at an unnatural rate. This can allow him to repair damage or as an excellent form of defense, though he cannot move and if uprooted will no longer be able to regenerate. While rooted, he will appear to be nothing more than a bramble patch, plants covering his skeletal body.
6. Combustible: while he is dry and brittle, extremely easy to burn, doing so is often as dangerous to his attacker as it is to him. The gas that he uses to fire off thorns is highly explosive, and burning him will cause this gas to combust, firing off the thorns with even more power than normal.
7. Undeath: despite being partially living, considering he is half plant, Briar does not seem to have the same requirements of most living beings. He needs no air, no form of nutrition, no water, no sleep, no rest. Only when he is injured must he intake anything to regenerate, but otherwise even the plant part of him acts as though undead.
Looks:
History: Briar is the result of an unfortunate series of circumstances, for his creator at least. There was a man who lived in Blood City, and he adored his yard. But kids would always come into it and mess up his wondrous lawn, and so he built a fence of wrought iron. This did not stop them, as they simply hopped over it. So then he grew briar patches behind the fence. Before long the thorny plants had engulfed the fence, making a vicious wall the kids could not climb. he adored the new plants for their protection, but every time he walked out into his yard he would sigh and mutter, complaining about how it was necessary to keep the ugly Briar Patches alive to protect his lawn. He started to neglect the plants however, when he was raised within the Satanic Cult he was in, and they were soon dark and twisted, barely alive. One of his spells went horribly wrong however, blowing the man out the window and burning him badly. He was barely alive when he landed in the thorny bushes, residual magic falling around him. The plants came alive, swarming over their master and stripping his skeleton of his flesh. The magic combined them strangely, thorns seeming to grow out of the skeletal bones. It took the name Briar Patches, and the will of this new monster seems to come from the neglected plants, the man having been consumed utterly.
